Telecommunications Firewall

A telecommunications firewall can secure voice, data networks

A telecommunications firewall is now a necessity for securing a voice network. Sitting on the perimeter of the voice network, it provides a first line of defense by inspecting in-line signaling to monitor for attacks, and limiting packet rates to/from IP address to "reasonable" levels (since signaling is low bandwidth) to help prevent DoS and identify hackers. For a superior telecommunications firewall, enterprises around the world have chosen SecureLogix®.

SecureLogix offers an innovative telecommunications firewall

With a global list of clients in virtually every business vertical, SecureLogix has earned its reputation as an innovator in telephony and firewall solutions. The ETM® System 5.0, SecureLogix leading product, provides a comprehensive set of telephony tools – including the world's first telecommunications firewall – that makes the task of securing and managing the voice network simpler and less costly. SecureLogix has received many industry awards for its security and firewall applications, including "Cool Vendor in Telecommunications" from Gartner in 2004.

Telecommunications firewall is part of a comprehensive approach to security

SecureLogix ETM System can dramatically improve security of the voice network. Applications include a voice intrusion prevention system, for detecting intrusive calling patterns in real-time; a call recording application that enables automatic recording of suspicious calls; a performance management application that provides real-time visibility into the health-and-status of the voice network; a powerful call accounting system that can improve insight into network usage and problems; and a telecommunications firewall.

The telecommunications firewall handles all traffic on the telephony network, approving or turning away all attempts to pass through the firewall based on a set of policies established by the telecommunications manager. The telecommunications firewall can enforce policies such as

  • Allow outbound modem calls, but only to specific numbers at specific times
  • Terminate any modem call not explicitly authorized
  • Allow inbound modem calls from know numbers, but only for a fixed duration
  • Require users to authenticate themselves
  • Allow outbound video communications from three users only
  • Terminate any inbound video calls and send an email alert to telecommunications manager
  • Inform telecommunications manager of any outbound calls during non-business hours
With proper policy setting, the telecommunications firewall can fend off a variety of threats such as viruses, toll fraud, message tampering, service abuse, fraudulent calls, and more.
