  Auditing & Usage Management Solutions
Collecting billing information and consolidating accurate call accounting reports have never been trivial endeavors, especially in a multi-vendor PBX environment.

Third party systems, such as buffer box technologies that attach to the SMDR (Station Message Detail Recording) port on each PBX for daily downloads, have helped provide some limited call accounting capabilities across the enterprise. However, these single purpose solutions are time-consuming and costly to manage, are not highly flexible or powerful in their reporting capabilities beyond basic billing, provide incomplete and less accurate information as compared to inline reporting solutions, often do not elegantly scale across larger enterprise environments, and rarely come bundled with other core voice network management applications.

The introduction of VoIP systems presents a major challenge in auditing and reporting across a multi-vendor, TDM & VoIP hybrid environment. Apart from the issue of consolidating call detail records and billing information across a hybrid network, calls across the PSTN and IP network should be correlated and stored as a single instance, rather than appearing as two calls – one on the IP and one for the TDM portion of the call.
