Toll Fraud
It happens with increasing regularity. Corporations are hit with unusually large long distance bills that can’t be explained by their normal business calling patterns. Toll fraud or dial-through fraud involves theft of private long distance service by an outside party, who often resells LD access to other parties/consumers. Toll fraud attacks have recently become increasingly prevalent, costly, and sophisticated. A rash of recent news accounts detail toll fraud attacks targeting U.S. and international businesses. In addition, the Communications Fraud Control Association’s most recent Telecom Fraud Survey reports $60 billion in costs to world-wide businesses due to toll fraud attacks.
The SecureLogix® Voice IPS application can identify and alert/block patterns of calls that may represent toll fraud or other types of voice fraud attacks. Its threshold-based policies allow the enterprise to prevent excessive (anomalous) long-distance charges against monitored voice trunks during a toll fraud attack. This real-time ability to protect your enterprise from excessive voice fraud losses is a unique capability only available through SecureLogix.
Social Engineering/ID Theft and Contact Center Fraud
Beyond toll fraud, newer manifestations of voice fraud threats targeting the enterprise are also emerging. A new breed of phone-based, social engineering attacks are placing corporations and their customers at increasing risk for information/ identity theft and financial damages. Most people are familiar with Internet- and email-based “Phishing” schemes, whereby criminals attempt to acquire personal information such as usernames, passwords and credit card account information by fraudulently representing themselves as trusted entities. Many corporations, especially financial, insurance, retail and healthcare organizations are now becoming victims of these types of social engineering/identity theft attacks conducted over corporate phone lines. The aim is to fraudulently acquire proprietary customer information and it places your company and your customers at risk for large financial losses.
The SecureLogix® ETM® System is a powerful voice fraud protection solution. The ETM Usage Manager application can help track social engineering attacks so that future calls from those perpetrators can be alerted, blocked, or forwarded to management by the Voice Firewall. In addition, the ETM Voice IPS application can recognized and alert call patterns indicative of contact center fraud and other fraudulent schemes. Once alerted, these calls can also be automatically recorded through the ETM Call Recorder application.
